Here are some of the projects we undertake.
The economic situation in Nigeria is deeply distressing, raising significant concerns about the survival of children, particularly in rural areas. According to the 2023 Global Hunger Index, Nigeria ranks 109th out of 125 countries with adequate data to determine their GHI scores. With a score of 28.3, Nigeria faces a serious level of hunger. Tragically, three million children die annually due to malnutrition. Given the severe economic downturn and the resulting spike in the cost of food and basic necessities, we dread what the statistics will reveal by the end of 2024. As Mother Teresa said, “Charity is not about pity, it's about love.” Join us in showing love through our feed and clothe a child initiative, one child at a time.
It might seem surprising, but many parents avoid discussing sex education with their children, even when they themselves were once victims or are aware their child is being sexually violated. This has unfortunately left many children traumatized, lacking self-confidence, and struggling with their values. Some willing parents, however, do not know how to educate their children about sex. According to UNICEF, 6 out of every 10 children have experienced some form of sexual violation; this statistics alone should serve as a wake-up call for parents, educators, and guardians to take child sex education seriously and start now. Teaching children can begin with simple actions, like correctly naming body parts rather than using coded names for the penis or vagina, and helping them understand what is private and the importance of maintaining privacy. The Model Boys and Girls Project aims to educate children about their bodies, teach them about boundaries, when and how to say NO to sexual violation, help them recognise the danger signs and know what to do if they encounter one, and support children who have been victims through the healing process. We do this by visiting schools, churches, and any gathering of children. We also empower parents, guardians, and educators with the necessary tools to guide their children on sex education effectively.
Achieving a balanced life is within reach. The Wellness Community is a group of young world changers striving to lead and model well-rounded lives. It is a place where youths can find answers to challenges faced in different areas of life (financial, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, mental, physical, occupational, and social). We believe that empowering young people equates to shaping a better society. Therefore, we connect them through periodic events, mentorship programs, and one-on-one consultations with experts in these fields.
Words of wisdom from our founder.
I firmly believe in the potential of people to do better if they know better. As a victim of child sexual abuse, I know how profoundly it impacted me, resulting in diminished self-worth, value, and fear of the unknown. No child should have to endure such a battle. The Model Boys and Girls project was born out of a passion to ensure that no child we encounter faces any form of sexual abuse; every form of sexual abuse is equally unacceptable. Hunger is debilitating; it strips away one's physical and mental strength. It is one of the most inhumane conditions anyone can experience, especially children. Coming from an average-income family, my parents did their best to keep food on our table, but sometimes, we ate whatever we could find or went without food. Those memories remain vivid, yet they pale compared to what millions of children endure yearly. Every time I see a suffering child on the street, I wonder about the bright future they might have had if only they could lead better lives. The Feed and Clothe a Child project aims to transform the lives of children worldwide, providing more than just a one-time meal. Nigeria today is the result of the seeds sown yesterday. We aim to plant better seeds in the minds of young people to create the Nigeria of tomorrow that we dream of—where everyone has a sense of responsibility, can lead a balanced life, and contribute to a better nation. This vision is the driving force behind the Wellness Community. Starting in Nigeria and extending to other nations, we will train, mentor, and model better youths for a brighter tomorrow.
